Clifton Williams was appointed General Counsel in March 2017. He joined UNC Asheville in 2014 as Assistant General Counsel, and in 2016 took on the role of Interim General Counsel. Clifton can often be found guest lecturing in classrooms, and working to improve business practices across campus. He is an avid supporter of Bulldog athletics and student events, and serves as captain of the Chancellor's Office intramural volleyball team.
Previously, Mr. Williams served as the University Records Officer for NC State University from 2010 until 2014. Prior to his work at NC State, Mr. Williams served as contract attorney with Bachman and Swanson, PLLC in Durham, North Carolina with a practice focus on criminal defense, personal injury, estate planning and general business matters.
Mr. Williams received his B.A. degree from Appalachian State University and his J.D. degree from North Carolina Central University School of Law.
