N. King Prather

King Prather has an Economics degree from the University of Virginia and a juris doctor from the North Carolina Central School of Law. In addition to his duties managing the Law Office at BCBSNC, which includes the Special Investigations and Fraud Unit, Mr. Prather oversees the company's Audit and Risk Management function, and its Enterprise Security & Privacy department. In addition to his duties at BCBSNC, Mr. Prather chairs the Executive Committee of the Blue Cross Blue Shield Association’s Legal Development Cooperative and is a member of the Board of Directors of the North Carolina Life and Health Insurance Guaranty Association. He also serves as the secretary of the separate and independent BCBSNC Foundation, a private not-for-profit foundation.

King is on the Board of Visitors at the North Carolina Central School of Law, and is a member of the American Bar Association and the North Carolina Bar Association. He has been a member of the Town of Cary Athletics Advisory Committee for over ten years, and is a former member and former chair of the UNC Asheville National Parent's Council. King and his wife Pam are parents to three UNC Asheville graduates.
